recent language accomplishments ✨

apologies if this post sounds braggy, i’m just super proud of the progress i’ve made on my language studies up til now and i can’t!! stop!! buzzing!! about!! it!!!

• spoke several times to a lovely air hostess on the way to korea in korean (we lowkey became besties), and she said she thought i was korean until i asked her for an immigration form!! we are speaking on a native level now folks!

• had a v long, complex and scary (at least, for me) conversation with a v sweet convenience store worker about prepaid sim cards and he complimented my korean when he found out i wasn’t from seoul 🥺🥺🥺

• got my hair cut + permed in korean!! everyone at the salon was sooo lovely and since they only spoke korean it was a great opportunity to force myself to speak it (which is becoming less and less nervewracking day by day hehe). all the staff were super friendly and when they found out i was a) a foreigner and b) only here on holiday they all said they either thought i was korean or thought i had been living here for a really long time???

• started reading the “what’s wrong with secretary kim” graphic novel and bought a few more korean poetry books!! super excited to get into them

• been ordering, interacting and basically just speaking in korean at every opportunity with people, which i was a little nervous about before bc i rarely have the opportunity to do so in england but it’s really fun and i am v happy about it hehe!! people think?? i’m a native speaker?? which makes me so happy i could SCREAM
